You can build links for your site by writing content and having other websites or blogs distribute that content by linking to your article for their visitors to read.  When you do this, you will get a link back to your website or blog.  Link bait comes from the practice of writing interesting and compelling content that is so enticing, that a reader wants to click on your link, to read the rest of your content.  Concentrate on giving your readers what they want and if you don this consistently, you will get more readers over time and they will want to link to your content.  Each time you produce content that others like and share with their readers; you build links back to your site.  Your strategy will be a four-step strategy in using content to build links for your website or blog.  Here is how to get your content seen by a wide audience and build links at the same time.

Your first step is to focus on creating content that is relevant to your industry or niche   by writing a quality piece of content that other websites or blogs will want to distribute to their visitors, so that your article can go viral, that is, your content will be promoted by other site owners for their visitors to read also.  This is how you establish link bait.  Link bait happens when your content is so good, other sites want to link to it.  Over a period of time, you will see a boost in your search engine rankings.

You want to be consistent in writing what your readers want to know more about.  Once again, if you don’t know what your readers want to know more about, you will have to ask them by doing a survey, a poll or soliciting comments on your site.  You could also go to four or five authoritative websites and blogs within your industry or niche and read the most common questions and answer those and use that as the basis for writing an article or post about it.  You could also take the most pressing issue within your industry or niche and address that in an article or post.

Your second step is getting your website or blog articles submitted and accepted into the Top 5 directories that represent your industry or niche.  You can Google your industry or niche, for example, if my industry or niche is living abroad or financing my stay abroad, I may want to put in the Google search box, living abroad directories.  If, that returned no directories, then I would search for living abroad websites, living abroad blogs and living abroad forums.  I would then ask each one of the Top 5 websites, blogs and forums within living abroad, what are the Top 5 directories associated with living abroad, expats, and/or living overseas?

This seems exhausting at first, but it does yield the results that you are looking for if you are willing to invest the time to get what you want.   Once you locate the Top 5 Authoritative directories for your industry or niche, then you can get some of your articles submitted, accepted and published in those.  Each of the Top 5 Authoritative directories for your industry or niche should have a pagerank of at least 4 or higher if at all possible.  The higher pagerank directories generally have a fair amount of traffic and consistently good content that the search engines love.  You will get links back to your website and blogs for your link building efforts.

The third step is using the aforementioned example above to find directories; you are going to use in order to find the Top 10 websites, blogs and forums for your industry or niche.  You want the opportunity to leave your comments and since many comment forms have a place for you to leave your website or blog address, this helps you in building links for your site.  While it is a fact that some websites, blogs and forums have a nofollow attribute, meaning that you will not get a link back to your site, don’t worry about that because if the website, blog or forum has a pagerank of 4 or higher, the search engine robots are crawling that site frequently and you may see a boost over time in the search engines anyways.

If, you establish yourself as a frequent contributor with relevant comments that add value to the discussion on a host of sites with decent pagerank, you will find that people may visit your site simply out of curiosity or out of wanting to read more of your content.  So, enjoy yourself and what you love and if that’s what your website or blog is about, this is going to be fun.  Find the questions you know something about and answer them, but always add something of value.

The fourth step is write articles for submission to the article distribution sites, such as ezines and goarticles.  When you produce content for the article distribution sites, you will have the opportunity to include information about yourself and your website or blog in the resource box area, which is just below your article.  When your article is accepted and distributed by the article distribution site, you will have a link back to your site.

Bear in mind that no matter how much the search engines change their formula, fresh, credible and timely content that is interesting and adds value will always be in demand and the search engines love it.  The search engine robots are always looking for what the readers like.  If, you produce content that attracts a lot of people, the search engines pretty much go where the visitors online go, to index those pages so that even more visitors can find the content.  Each time you write something that others feel is interesting and adds value to the topic you are covering, their likely to share it with others and when others read it, they may as well share it with someone they know.

The writer of workathomepedia.com has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not disagree with: If it is on the Internet, it must be free. If it is not free, it must be stolen at every opportunity. If it is not stolen at every opportunity, it must be remarkably inferior to something else that is duly free or stolen at every opportunity. I will be back.
