Google Zeitgeist is Google Trends and appropriately named Zeitgeist which is German for the Spirit of Time. What Google Zeitgeist and Google Trends is about, is looking at what people are searching for on Google Search in real-time. Google Zeitgeist is a sort of snapshot of what people are actively searching for at that moment in time. Google Zeitgeist is updated every hour and shows the trends in people’s search patterns as they are happening. So, think about it, if you were trying to commit suicide by getting hit by a motor vehicle, you go where the traffic is, if you want to succeed. We don’t advocate committing suicide, but that is what you are doing if you have a blog, website or forum and if it were not for you visiting, you‘d have no traffic.  Here’s the cure….

To get a picture of the traffic you’re currently getting or not getting, go to Google Analytics and sign up for a free account. Google Analytics will allow you to see where your traffic is coming from and in what numbers. You can even see what part of the world your traffic is coming from and what keyword if any, brought them to your site.

The next thing that you need to do is to write a new post for your site using Google Zeitgeist as your guide. Go to Google Zeitgeist and look at the 100 keywords that people are actively searching for and find a keyword that you are interested in and write about that. You want to describe what it is going to be like and relate it to your chosen keyword from Google Zeitgeist. If, your keyword for example involves a new camera that is coming out or has just been released, you can write about the competing camera that will compete directly with the newly-released camera. You say something like, “the new camera (your keyword) will give the camera you’re writing about stern competition because of blah, blah, blah, blah! You relate the keyword you’re writing about to emphasize the keyword that is being actively searched for on Google Trends.

When you’re doing your blog post, look at what’s hot in Google Trends and if you are interested in one of the 100 keywords currently in Google Trends, by all means write about it. Just keep in mind that whatever you choose to write about, try to relate what is going on that day or at the most that week with Google Trends. You want to direct your traffic to a website, blog or forum that you have already have.

If, the keyword you chose to write about doesn’t have much keyword competition, you should rank well for the keyword that you are using and see some resultant traffic and links. Search for keywords that don’t have a lot of competition and you are most likely to get increasing traffic over time. Until next time, see you on the other side.
